As part of Trading Pro’s standard verification process, clients may be identified as a Politically Exposed Person (PEP).
A PEP is an individual who currently holds or has previously held a prominent public position, either domestically or internationally. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Heads of state or government
-
Government ministers, parliament members, or senior public officials
-
Senior military, police, or judicial officials
-
Ambassadors or high-ranking diplomatic officials
-
Senior executives of state-owned or intergovernmental organizations
PEPs also include:
-
Immediate family members of a PEP (such as spouses, parents, children, or siblings)
-
Close associates with significant business or legal relationships with a PEP
Typically, junior or middle-ranking officials are not considered PEPs.
What does this mean for you?
Trading Pro is legally required to determine whether a client is a PEP. This is a standard compliance requirement that applies to all clients.
If requested, please provide accurate and timely information to avoid potential account limitations.
If you are a PEP
There is no cause for concern. Clients identified as PEPs are not treated unfairly or differently.
If a client is identified as a PEP, an internal review will be conducted. If no issues are found, the verification will be approved.
In some cases, additional information or documentation may be requested as part of enhanced due diligence, in line with regulatory requirements.
Important notes
-
Even if you no longer hold a public position, you may still be classified as a PEP.
-
PEP status is determined by role and connections, not personal preference.
All personal information is handled confidentially and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Client Agreement.
